About the hotline
Our community crisis hotline is open to calls from 8am to 10pm every day from anyone. The hotline is run by trained volunteers with experience in de-escalation and crisis response. We can only respond in-person to crises in Koreatown and surrounding neighborhoods. Leave a voicemail or text us at any time, and we will respond in the next 24 hours. We follow principles of informed consent and will always make sure you understand our services before engaging in our services. We will never text you without permission. If you text us, you will be opting in to receive our texts and we will gladly text back as soon as we can.
About us
Koreatown CAT-911 (Community Alternatives to 911) fosters sustainable public safety by providing and strengthening community responses to local emergencies that respect the dignity of everyone involved. We help make our neighborhood safer by addressing crises through non-violent problem-solving, de-escalation, and community collaboration. The Koreatown CAT-911 hotline provides support for people who need emergency response, but cannot or do not want to call 911. We can assist with mental health crises, domestic violence, interpersonal conflicts, and other safety concerns. We also provide assistance with finding non-police services and monitoring police interactions.
